Pattamundai: A 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 75-year-old man at Badamula Basanta area under Pattamundai police limits in Kendrapada district on Sunday.
According to the information, the elderly man, identified as Bishnu Das, took the girl belonging to Kela community to his house on pretext of providing her food and then raped her. Hearing the girl’s screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued her.
The family members of the victim lodged a written complaint, following which police arrested the accused.
On Saturday, another minor girl was allegedly raped by her uncle at Banki area in Cuttack district.
The accused identified as Padmanav Sahu was later arrested by police
Padmanav had gone to the girl’s house while she was sleeping. Finding no one at home, the accused forcibly took the 12-year-old girl to another room of the house and raped her.
