Nuapada: Forest officials of Odisha and Chhattisgarh have seized as many as 765 pangolin scales and arrested four persons in this connection in Nuapada.
According to sources, following a tip-off about on ongoing deal to sell a large number of pangolin scales, a joint team of Khariar Forest Department and Chhattisgarh Udaanthi Sita River Wildlife Sanctuary Wildlife Department conducted a raid on Shukhamal village under Komna Forest Range in Nuapada district on Saturday.
During the raid, the team found the pangolin scales weighing 3.1 kg from the house of a villager and seized those. They also arrested four persons, who have been accused of poaching pangolins and illegal deal of wildlife, from the house.
The arrested persons are Kumud Hans and Santosh Hans of Gobindpur village and Narhari Gahir and Chaturbhuj Katama of Shukhamal village in the district.
The Forest department have filed a case against the four and forwarded them to the court, said the sources.
