Berhampur: In a major breakthrough, police on Sunday arrested eight members of dacoity gang.
According to Ganjam SP Brijesh Kumar Rai, as part of the drive against the anti-socials in the district, a special team was formed with Aska IIC Prashant Sahu and the IICs of Badagada and Dharakote police stations.
Acting on a tip-off about the presence of a dacoit gang in the Gangapur area, the special team raided the area and nabbed eight members of the gang.
Police seized 10 Mausers, six sharp weapons, cutters, 53 live bullets, 12 country bombs, 8 mobile phones and four bikes from their possession.
The SP said that the gang was involved in several cases of murder, attempt to murder, dacoity and theft in the Gangapur area.
