Nabarangpur: A major accident occurred in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district when a vehicle carrying members of a yatra party overturned at Chandahandi Ghat, leaving eight people injured.
The mishap took place on Monday evening when the group was returning from a religious procession. The vehicle has been smashed to pieces while all eight passengers luckily escaped with injuries.
As per sources, the vehicle was carrying artists who finished their performance at Mundibeda village in Raighar block. At the Chandahandi ghat, the vehicle lost balance and overturned after its brakes reportedly failed. All passengers fell on the road and sustained injuries ranging from minor cuts to serious fractures. Local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.
On being informed, police and emergency services arrived promptly, and the injured were shifted to community health centre (CHC) at Chandahandi for treatment. Medical staff confirmed that while most victims are out of danger, a few remain under close observation due to the severity of their injuries.
