8 Of New Omicron Cases In Odisha Have Foreign Travel History: Health Director

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Sunday said of 14 Omicron cases detected on Saturday, 8 had foreign travel history.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Director, Health Services, Bijay Mohapatra said those detected with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 belong to the age group of 11 to 54 years. While 7 of them are men, the rest are women, he added.

He further said four persons with Omicron variant belong to Balasore district, as many to Sambalpur and the rest to Jajpur and Khurda districts.

Mohapatra said that contact tracing and tests of all identified persons has been completed. While most cases tested negative, those who have tested positive are in isolation. The condition of all patients was stable, he added.

On the booster dose of COVID vaccines, the director said no decision has been taken in this regard but the precautionary dose of vaccines will begin from January 10, as announced by the government earlier.
