Bhubaneswar: The Union Cabinet has approved 8 railway projects with a budget of Rs 19,289 crore for Odisha, said Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Taking to his X handle on Tuesday, the Union Minister said he was thankful to Prime Minister for sanctioning total Rs 73,723 crore for development of railway sector in Odisha to put the state’s economic development on fast track.
Stating that three railway zones would continue to operate as usual under the East Coast Railway (ECoR), Vaishnaw said the Cabinet has approved the proposal for formation of Rayagada Railway Zone. A tender of Rs 107 crore has been invited for the construction of the zonal office in Rayagada, he posted.
The minister further said total 59 stations in the state are being redeveloped under the Amrit Station Scheme of the ministry.
The Cabinet has also approved following 8 new railway projects at a cost of Rs 19,289 crore:
1.Gunupur-Therubali New Railway Line
2. Junagarh Road-Nabarangpur New Railway Line
3. Malkangiri-Pandurangapuram via Bhadrachalam new railway line
4. Badampahar-Kendujhargarh new railway line
5. Bangiriposhi-Gorumahisani New Railway Line
6. Budamara-Chakulia new railway line
7. Sardega-Bhalumuda new dual carriageway railway line
8. Bargarh Road-Nuapada Road New Railway Line
