New York: Eight years after committing a double murder, a 53-year-old American man made a chilling confession. That, too, during a television interview.
But wait till you hear who Lorenz Kraus killed. It was his parents!
It was in 2017 that Kraus killed both his parents, and buried their bodies in the backyard of his house.
The surprises don’t end there. Kraus himself contacted local news outlet CBS6 in Albany and offered to give them an interview, in which he admitted to killing his parents Franz and Theresia Kraus.
Kraus was arrested after leaving the television studio, and charged with two counts of murder. His parents’ remains were thereafter recovered in the yard.
In a viral video of his confession, in the course of the interview with news anchor Greg Floyd, Kraus shows no remorse.
“I did my duty to my parents… my concern for their misery was paramount,” he said, citing his mother’s injury from falling while crossing a road, and his father’s inability to drive due to a cataract surgery.
Kraus confessed to burying his parents’ bodies in the backyard. Initially reluctant to talk about how he killed his parents, Kraus later admitted to suffocating them both.
Asked which parent he killed first, Kraus said: “My father, and after he died, my mother put her head on his chest. She was there for a few hours and then I finished her.”
He went on to say that his parents did not struggle, and died quickly.
Asked what he used to suffocate his parents, Kraus revealed, “For my father a hand, for my mother a rope.”
His parents, 92 and 83 years old, were survivors of World War II in Germany.
Kraus revealed that their bodies were kept for three days before he buried them in the backyard.

According to the journalist who did the interview, the case came as a complete surprise.
There was no missing persons’ report, and neighbours were of the opinion that the Kraus duo had moved back to Germany.
“The public never knew anything until Tuesday when an array of police vehicles showed up on that street and started searching a house and digging in the backyard,” he said.
