Bhubaneswar: A two-day Odissi dance festival, titled Sradhanjali Samaroha-2023, was inaugurated at Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar on Saturday to mark 37th death anniversary of Guru Debaprasad Das.
Organised by Tridhara in collaboration with Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra Odissi Research Centre, the festival is participated by around 800 artists and more than 75 institutions. The festival offers a platform to the dancers to pay homage to Guruji by performing Odissi dance in his dance style.
In the afternoon session of the festival’s first day, Odissi dance was performed by Shreya Shradhanjali, Nrutyasree (Karanjia), Lingaraj Kala Niketan (Puri), Bagmishree Das, Rawa Dance Academy (Bhubaneswar), Nrutyalaya (Bhubaneswar), Nrutyadham (Bhubaneswar), Suravi (Bhubaneswar), Shree Dance Academy (Bhubaneswar) and Nrutya Prativa (Bhubaneswar).
The evening session saw performance by the senior group of Tridhara, Bhubaneswar followed by Bharatnatyam by Jhinook Mukherjee Sinha, duet Odissi dance by Guru Kavita Mishra and Raju Mishra. Next performers were Sanghamitra Singh and dancers from Bhubaneswar Kala Kendra and the last presentation was made by the dancers of Nrutya Bilash.
Satyabrata Sahu, additional chief secretary, Odia Language, Literature and Culture department; Ashok Kumar Tripathy, former administrator; Pandit Prosenjit Poddar, secretary, Hindustan Art & Music Society; Madhusudan Das, special Secretary, Odia Language, Literature and Culture; Simanchala Panda, working president, Tridhara and Guru Gajendra Panda, director, Tridhara attended the evening programme.
