Bhubaneswar: The first day of liquor home delivery amid the lockdown saw 8,420 orders being placed in 29 excise districts of Odisha.
According to the state Excise Department, 9,440 bulk litre of foreign liquor and 10,689 litre of beer were home delivered on Monday. Cuttack, Khurda and Sundargarh topped the chart in terms of number of orders delivered, the Excise Commissioner said.
The home delivery service is currently being provided by 672 existing ON & OFF shop licensees of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer in areas other than COVID-19 containment zones and shopping malls.
Home delivery apps, Swiggy and Zomato, who have been given NOC to operate in Odisha, are in the process of tying up with retailers and expected to start their operations from Tuesday.
