Bhubaneswar: Initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojana (PMKVY) have been playing a pivotal role in empowering the youth and equipping them with industry relevant skills to enhance their employability,
Prof Pradipta Kumar Nanda, vice-chancellor of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) in Bhubaneswar has said.
“Such initiatives foster economic growth and SOA is committed to bridge the gap between education and industry by fostering a skill-oriented environment,” Prof Nanda said while distributing certificates to the 8th batch of PMKVY trainees at SOA recently.
The event, organised under the Skill Hub Initiative scheme at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS), SOA’s faculty of agricultural sciences, marked successful completion of skill development courses involving a large number of students who underwent various vocational training programmes under PMKVY.
The PMKVY programme at SOA offered a wide range of vocational training courses focusing on areas such as agriculture, technology and entrepreneurship. The university has been helping students acquire practical skills that make them more competitive in the job market.
The ceremony was attended by Prof Santosh Kumar Rout, Dean of IAS, Prof Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare) and several officials of the university and Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (CSDE).
Ashok Kumar Nayak, Deputy General Manager, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, expressed his gratitude to the university for extending its support in advancing the mission of skill development. Regular skill programmes would commence in the field of engineering, medical sciences and agricultural sciences in near future, he said. Ramakrushna Mohanty conducted the programme.
