9 Urban Centres Record 39 Degree Celsius Or More In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Heatwave condition continued to prevail in the state with 9 urban centres registering temperature of 39 degree Celsius or more in the last 24 hours.

According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday, 4 places in the state reported temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more. Balangir led the table with maximum temperature of 40.7 degree Celsius, followed by Jharsuguda with 40.2 degree.

Titlagarh, which recorded highest temperature of 41 degree Celsius recorded 40 degree along with Boudh. Baripada registered 39.6 degree Celsius, followed by Sambalpur with 39.5, Angul 39.1 and Sundargarh and Talcher with 39 degree Celsius.

The Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were relatively cooler with 36.9 and 36.8 degree Celsius respectively. On Tuesday, 6 urban centres in the state had reported 39 degree or more temperature.

The Met office has forecast no major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during next 4-5 days. It will be above normal by 2-3 °C at a few places in interior Odisha.

The IMD has also forecast that light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely at one or two places in the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput in next 24 hours.
