90 Bikes Seized, Riders Fined For Traffic Rule Violation In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Around 90 two-wheelers were seized and their riders fined by the police for violation of different traffic rules in Bhubaneswar.
In a crackdown on traffic rule violation, the police took the action for wrong route driving, use of high decibel horns and illegal exhaust pipes and other offences. As per information, around 90 bikes have been seized during the special operation, sources said.
Notably, a special drive was launched by the traffic police in Odisha capital against driving of vehicles on the wrong side of the road. Vehicles moving on wrong side of the road are being seized by the traffic police.
The personnel of both the traffic police stations have launched checking at different places of Bhubaneswar and seized a large number of vehicles since September.
The drive was launched as drivers, particularly bikers, are often found flouting the traffic norms and driving on the wrong side of the road. As part of the drive, instead of collecting fines, the cops are seizing the vehicles. The owners will have to release their vehicles by paying fines in court.
The special enforcement drive has been launched at different locations in the state capital to ensure strict adherence to traffic rules by the vehicle drivers.
The Commissionerate Police had earlier appealed to the vehicle drivers to strictly follow the traffic regulations to prevent penalties and court cases. The enforcement drive on various norms would continue in the city.
