Bhubaneswar: The 11th edition of KiiT International School Model United Nations (MUN) programme was inaugurated here on Saturday.
Around 900 students from various schools are participating in the event.
In his address, KIIT and KISS Founder Dr Achyuta Samanta highlighted the significance of MUN as a platform for young minds to express their ideas, engage in constructive discussions and integrate knowledge.
“This is the age of knowledge, not just certificates. Having high academic scores alone is not sufficient without the ability to present ideas effectively,” Dr Samanta said.
He also pointed out India’s demographic advantage, with 65 per cent of the population being youth.
Group Captain R K Narang V M (Retd) called upon students to take responsibility for finding solutions to global issues like climate change. He also encouraged participants to deliberate on contentious issues with innovative thoughts and discuss aspects that impact humanity and aspirations of people.
Among other speakers were Chairperson of KiiT International School Dr Monalisa Bal and Principal of KiiT International School Dr. Sanjay Kumar Suar, who both spoke of the opportunities the event provides for student development.
