Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Wednesday decided to allow trading activities in the Malgodown in three shifts to avoid large congregation.
The decision was taken after a large number of COVID-19 cases were detected in Behera Sahi, which is a containment zone.
Non-essential shops in the godown will remain open from 7 am to 10 am while the wholesalers dealing with essential items will be allowed to trade from 10 am to 2 pm. The retail shops dealing with essential items will be allowed to operate from 2 pm to 8 pm.
Besides, the Malgodown will remain closed on every Wednesday until further orders.
The CMC took the decision on the basis of the letter of the Cuttack Chamber of Commerce.
So far, 95 positive cases have been detected from the Behera Sahi. While 10 cases were reported on July 29, 57 were detected on August 3 and 28 more cases on August 4.
