Sambalpur SP Kanwar Vishal Singh on Sunday suspended three policemen of Jujumara police station on charges of demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a person, who was caught transporting timber wood on his motorcycle on January 10.
The suspended police personnel are Haviladar Biranchi Behera, Driver Jagannath Jena and Constable Prashant Pradhan.
According to sources, Jujumara IIC Lokanath Sahoo has also been transferred to district police headquarters. The action was taken based on a viral video of incident. The suspended policemen had demanded Rs 20,000 bribe from Dileswara Dutiachand of Bagadafa village to withdraw the case against him, sources said.
