Will Rain Spoil Holi Fun In Odisha? Heavy Downpour Forecast For These Districts In Next 24 Hours
Bhubaneswar: Rain is unlikely to play spoilsport this Holi (March 10), though the Met office here has forecast light to moderate rainfall with possibility of thunderstorm at one or two places in Ganjam, Puri, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Mayurbhanj districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has, however, issued thunderstorm along with lightning warning for some places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Boudh, Khurda, Cuttack, Angul and Dhenkanal districts in the next 24 hours.
These places are also likely to experience light to moderate rain under the influence of a cyclonic circulation, which now lays over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and its neighbourhood area between 0.9 and 2.1 km above the mean sea level.
Heavy rain is likely to lash some isolated parts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Kandhamal and Nayagarh on Saturday (March 7).
Yellow warning has also been issued for several districts of coastal Odisha and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and Rayagada.
Light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorm is likely to occur in coastal and districts of south interior Odisha and a few places of north interior Odisha on March 8, the bulletin further said.
Light to moderate rain will occur at a few places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur and isolated parts of Deogarh, Sonepur, Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal between March 10 and 11, it added.
