Bijepur Bypoll: Three BJD Leaders Given Block Duties
Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the ensuing by-election to Bijepur Assembly constituency in Odisha’s Bargarh district, the ruling BJD on Tuesday assigned Block duties to three senior party leaders.
While Sushant Singh and Pranab Prakash Das will be in charge of Bijepur Block, Sanjay Das Burma and Niranjan Pujari will remain in charge of Barpali and Gaisilat Blocks respectively.
Two senior party leaders—Prafulla Mallick and Prasanna Acharya— will monitor poll matters of these three Blocks in coordination with the three aforesaid leaders.
The party has announced the name of Rita Sahu, wife of Late Subala Sahu, former Congress MLA of Bijepur.
On the other hand, the BJP has given Block duties to three senior party leaders have been given the charge of three blocks in the constituency.
While the state party president Basant Panda is in the charge of Barpali block, KV Singhdeo and Jayanarayhan Mishra are in charge of Gaisilat and Bijepur block respectively.
The party has announced Ashok Panigrahi as its candidate.
Meanwhile, a six-member Congress committee led by former Chief Minister Hemananda Biswal arrived at Bijepur on Tuesday.
The committee, formed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in consultation with the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), will select candidate for the by-election.
