Puri: Panic gripped Chandanpur area in Odisha’s Puri district after a youth was brutally murdered by four miscreants in the broad daylight in the morning on Wednesday.
Sources said Arjun Boral, a youth of Gola Sahi under Chandanpur police station limits was on the way to the Chandanpur market area on his bicycle when four youths suddenly attacked him. As Arjun fell down from the bicycle, the miscreants hacked him with sharp weapons killing him on the spot.
Soon after the incident, the miscreants fled the area.
Following information, IIC of Chandanpur Police Station Jayadip Mohanty and IIC of Sadar Police station rushed to the spot.
The incident took place at about 9.30 AM on Jaganath Ballav Road.
As informed by the police, the murder is the outcome of a long-standing rivalry of the deceased with some youths in Chandanpur locality.
The body was later sent for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to nab the assailants.
