Odisha Fights Corona: RSP Donates Rs 1 Cr To CM’s Relief Fund
Rourkela: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) authorities have donated Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to check the spread of COVID-19 in Odisha.
RSP Executive Director (P&A) Raj Vir Singh handed over a cheque to Sundargarh Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalayan.
Speaking about the initiative, Plant CEO Dipak Chattaraj said RSP is committed to make every effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus and steadfast in its support to the state and the Centre in this endeavour.
RSP had earlier donated Rs 30 crore and one-day salary of all its employees worth Rs 9 crore to the PM Cares Fund.
RSP has set up a COVID-19 sample testing centre at Ispat General Hospital (IGH) for quick identification and containing of the disease in Sundargarh district.
Besides, it has also provided five ventilators for use in the Hi-Tech Hospital and a dedicated COVID centre in the steel city developed by the Odisha government. Isolation facility and some beds in the ICU have been kept ready at IGH while some accommodations have been kept reserved for quarantine facilities.
The Plant management is working in tandem with the local authorities in taking various preventive and proactive measures.
A massive drive has been undertaken to clean and sanitize the entire steel township as well as every department of the plant. Wearing of the mask by every employee as well as the contract worker has been made mandatory, while social distancing is being maintained at every point of time.
Apart from this, the stock of medicines and other consumables is being monitored on a day-to-day basis and special procurement is being made.
As a part of the Annadaan initiative, RSP is providing cooked food to the poor and needy in various sectors and slum areas of the city. So far about 10,000 food packets have been distributed. An intensive awareness campaign is going on in the plant using print, outdoor and social media as well in the township to make everyone aware and alert about the Dos and Don’ts regarding the virus.
