Woman dies after childbirth, family cries negligence

Balangir: Tension ran high at Balangir district headquarters hospital on Wednesday as family members of a woman, who died after delivering a baby girl, alleged negligence in treatment.
She was identified as Jayanti Sharma (wife of Arjun Sharma), a resident of Pattamundai under Deogaon block in the district.
According to hospital sources, the woman delivered the baby last night. Her condition deteriorated early this morning and she died at the hospital. After being informed about her death, Jayanti’s family members and relatives staged demonstration inside the hospital premises alleging medical negligence.
After an altercation broke out between the woman’s family members and employees of the hospital, the CDMO rushed to the spot and informed them that a two-member team comprising a senior gynaecologist and ADMO has been formed to conduct a thorough probe into the matter.
