Odisha FC Ropes In Young Defenders Hendry Antonay & Saurabh Meher For ISL
Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC has roped in young defenders Hendry Antonay and Saurabh Meher for the seventh season of Hero Indian Super League (ISL).
Both Hendry and Saurabh played for Indian Arrows in I-League last season and were earlier a part of ISL side Chennaiyin FC.
The 20-year-old right-back Hendry was part of the Indian squad in the 2017 FIFA Under-17 World Cup. Centre-back Saurabh also represented India in age-group competitions.
Welcoming the duo to OFC, club president Rohan Sharma said: “I feel extremely lucky to have Hendry and Saurabh joining the club today. Both players have the potential to become key members of our defensive line. Saurabh has the versatility to play in any defensive role which makes him a vital chess piece, and Hendry is probably one of the most exciting young Indian full-backs right now. I have high expectations from them. At Odisha FC, they will be given every opportunity to reach their potential.”
After joining the Bhubaneswar-based club, Hendry said: “Several other clubs had shown interest in me but the investment that Odisha FC are putting in in younger players was the main factor that I put pen to paper. I am very much looking forward to meeting my new teammates and of course working hard to make an impact in the ISL.”
Saurabh also expressed his delight at the new move. “I am really happy to join Odisha FC and play in the Indian Super League next season. I hope to contribute to the team’s success. OFC have a good crowd support and I am quite excited to call Bhubaneswar my footballing home.”
