Two Held For Illegally Trading Leopard & Deer Skins In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch on Monday arrested two persons for illegally selling leopard and deer skins.
Police seized the skins of two leopards and two deer as well as other incriminating articles from the accused, Pratap Kumar Nayak and Kishore Chandra Dehury, at Giripuja forest in Nayagarh district.
The two were booked under Sections 379 (punishment for theft), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) and 120(B) (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and 51 of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.
The seized skins will be sent to Wild Life Institute of India, Dehradun for chemical examination, officials said.
