Odisha Govt To Abide By Supreme Court Order On Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Thursday decided to abide by the order of the Supreme Court not to organise Rath Yatra in any part of Odisha.

It was decided at an emergency meeting of the State Cabinet, presided by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

While Advocate General of Odisha Ashok Parjia apprised the Cabinet of the Supreme Court direction, Law Minister Pratap Jena proposed to abide by the order.

The Cabinet directed the Jagannath Temple Managing Committee to take necessary steps to perform all rituals of the Lords with strict adherence to the order of the apex court. It also directed all district magistrates to ensure that all Jagannath temple managing committees in their respective districts will strictly abide by the order of the court.

Among others, working chairperson of Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Development Commissioner, principal secretary, Law and chief administrator of SJTA were present at the meeting.
