India COVID-19 Tally Nears 4 Lakh; Delhi’s Fatality Rate 3.8%
New Delhi: India registered another highest single-day spike of 14,516 COVID-19 cases on Saturday.
With the day’s new cases, the national tally has gone up to 3,95,048 while a total of 12,948 patients have succumbed to COVID-19 with 375 new fatalities over the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
There are 1,68,269 active cases with 2,13,831 patients having recovered from the infection.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has informed that 66,16,496 samples to check coronavirus were tested till June 19, and as many as 1,89,869 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi crossed the 50,000-mark on Friday, with 3,137 new cases over the past 24 hours, as per the city government’s daily health bulletin.
Friday’s surge, the highest in a single day, took the city’s total to 53,116. With 66 deaths over the last 24-hours, the total death toll of the city also breached the 2,000 mark taking the fatality rate to 3.8%.
