6,000 Tonne Steel Plates Order From Europe Market For Odisha’s RSP
Bhubaneswar: The Rourkela Steel Plant, a unit of state-run SAIL, on Sunday said it has bagged an order of over 6,000 tonne of special grade plates for supply to the European market.
According to a release issued by the RSP, the plant will export CE-marked plates conforming to the European standards. The ‘CE’ is defined as the European Union’s mandatory conformity marking for regulating goods sold within the European Economic Area.
The plates produced by the plant are used in earth moving equipment, wagon building, railway projects, bridges and highways, nuclear power plants and other sectors.
The steel plant bagged the fresh order a few weeks after it completed export of 60,000 tonne of special grade slab to China and 2,700 tonne of plates to Vietnam, the release said.
With the world steel market going through a sluggish phase due to COVID-19 pandemic, the new order is expected to come as a major revenue relief for the RSP.
