Bhubaneswar: Reemergence of China as a strong economic power in the South East Asia has posed serious threat to the global trade environment. In order to compete with China, India needs to keep a vigilant eye and strengthen its maritime trade, said eminent economist and Head and Dean of Business Economics of Delhi University Prof Dr Vijay Kumar Kaul here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, former Professor of Pokhara University, Nepal, Dr Radheshyam Pradhan glorified the rich culture and maritime heritage of Kalinga and stressed on cultural interaction among the SAARC countries to boost global trade environment. East Asia needs to promote startup in order to nurture the youth skills and strengthen rural economy, he said.
Among others, director of Indo-Tibetian Studies of Visva-Bharati University Prof Andrea Loseries, head of Islamic history and culture department of Rajshahi University in Bangladesh Prof Dr Khaililur Rahman, member of ICHR, New Delhi Prof Narayan Rao, former VC of Kalyani University, West Bengal Prof Dr Malayendu Saha and director of IMS and conference convenor Prof Upendra Padhi also spoke.
The three-day conference organized by Institute of Media Studies (IMS) and Kalinga Media Centre (KMC) will conclude on Monday. Commerce and Transport Minister Dr Nrusingha Charan Sahu will grace the closing ceremony. The meet was inaugurated by Minister of MSME Prafulla Samal and MP Lok Sabha Bhartruhari Mahtab. Former vice-chancellor of Utkal University of Culture Prof. Dr. Amiya Patnaik presided over the inaugural ceremony. National repute research organizations like ICHR and ICSSR have been associated with the event as academic partners.
