Bhubaneswar: With the Met office forecasting heavy rain for three days in the state, the government has directed the district collectors to keep the administrative machinery ready in case of any eventuality arising out of rainfall.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena has asked the collectors to keep a close watch and monitor the situation in view of the low pressure over North Bay of Bengal.
The fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea on August 4-5.
According to the Met office, low pressure formed over the Bay would trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha. It forecast that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Sambalpur districts with extremely heavy rainfall very likely at one or two places over Keonjha, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj districts.
Heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places over Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Anugul, Deogarh, Koraput, Nawarangpur and Kalahandi.
Meanwhile, several places in the state reported heave rainfall in the last 24 hours with Sonepur recording 170 mm followed by Talcher (108), Chandbali (92), Sambalpur (91.3), Boudh (75.2), Paradip (71.8), Cuttack (63.2), Angul (59.6), Phulbani (58), Sundargarh (53) and Hirakud (51.6).
