Bhubaneswar:  The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made elaborate arrangements for the students who will appear in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) on September 13.

Briefing mediapersons after a preparatory meeting on Thursday, BMC commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said as about 15,000 students will appear in the test at 31 centres, specific arrangements have been made for the accommodation of the students.

He said the students from other districts are expected to arrive in the city a day before the examination with their parents and guardians. Arrangements have been made for their accommodation in the hostels of five engineering colleges. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, each hostel will have a medical team with adequate sanitation facilities, he added.

“For the smooth conduct of the examination, announcements will be made through public address system asking the people not to congregate near the examination centres,” Chaudhary said.

State nodal officer, NEET Palli Patnaik said the state government has made elaborate arrangement with the requisition of buses to bring the students and their parents and guardians to Bhubaneswar. Apart from this, local transport like auto-rickshaws and taxis will be put in place in the city to bring the students to the examination centres, she added.
