Train Plows Into Elephant In Odisha’s Sundargarh
Rourkela: A female elephant was mauled by a goods train between Jareikela and Manoharpur in Bisra area. 33 km away from Rourkela, on Wednesday night.
According to sources, the incident took place around 9 pm as the elephant was moving towards Chakradharpur in Jharkhand from Rourkela.
Locals thrashed the loco-pilot, who along with the guard later fled the spot. They then staged a rail roko and withdrew it only after Railways officials along with Jaraikela police reached the place and pacified them.
Forest officials have recovered the carcass for postmortem and started an investigation, the sources added.
