Central PSUs’ Over Rs 84 Crore Relief To Odisha DISCOMs
New Delhi: The Central PSUs under the Ministry of Power have offered a rebate of ₹84.93 crore to DISCOMs in Odisha for power purchase during the lockdown period.
The rebate, which is expected to provide much-needed relief to the distressed power utility sector in the state, has been announced by NHPC, NTPC and PGCIL. While NHPC has offered a relief of Rs 3.78 crore, NTPC has given a respite of Rs 56.8 crore and PGCIL Rs 24.35 crore.
In a series of tweets, Union Petroleum and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Power Minister RK Singh in this regard. The concrete steps and continuous support will help the power sector and DISCOMS in Odisha impacted by the challenges of COVID-19, he said.
“Central Government under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi is committed to provide continuous supply of power to Odisha and also fulfil additional power demand by industrial, commercial and domestic consumers as a result of uptick in economic activities post lifting of the lockdown,” Pradhan said.
