RapeNilagiri: The accused in rape case of a four-year-old girl of Nilagiri in Balasore was arrested by police from Bhadrak on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Nityachandan Jena (24).
“Police managed to nab Jena from Bhadrak town on the basis of a tip-off received from reliable sources about his presence in the area. Seeing the cops, he attempted to flee the place but was overpowered by the raiding team”, Nilagiri police station inspector-in-charge Ramesh Chandra Singh informed.
On Saturday, the accused, who happens to be the neighbour of the girl, had lured her with chocolates while she was playing near her house at Hatasahi and took her to his house. He later committed the crime and was absconding since then, Singh added.
Meanwhile, the rape survivor was taken to a local hospital by the officials of District Child Welfare Committee for medical examination.
