Fresh Low Pressure Over Bay: Heavy Rain To Lash Odisha For 2 Days; Know The Forecast Till Oct 20
Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, on Friday said that a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the central Bay of Bengal around October 19.
“It is likely to become more marked in the subsequent 24 hours. Under its influence enhance rainfall activity with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur in some districts of Odisha between October 19-21,” it added.
The Met Office has issued orange and yellow warnings for the following districts from 8.30 am on October 19 to 8.30 am on October 21.
OCTOBER 19
Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall to lash isolated places in Ganjam and Gajapati districts.
Yellow Warning: Isolated places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Puri likely experience heavy rain.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places in South Odisha, North Coastal Odisha and at a few places in North Interior Odisha.
OCTOBER 20
Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places in Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam and Gajapati.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places in Malkangiri, Nawarangpur and Kandhamal districts.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places in South Coastal Odisha, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and at many places in South Odisha, North Coastal Odisha and at a few places in North Interior Odisha.
On October 17, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places in South Coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and at isolated places over the rest districts of Odisha.
South Coastal Odisha and a few places in South Interior Odisha, North Coastal Odisha and some isolated places in North Interior Odisha will experience light to moderate rain or thundershower in the subsequent 24 hours.
The weatherman advised fishermen against venturing into the sea on October 19 and 20 as squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely over central Bay of Bengal due to formation of the low-pressure area.
