Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has formed teams to ensure strict implementation of the Supreme Court’s guidelines on pollution during the festive season.
The municipal body held a coordination committee meeting on the pollution control measures during Durga Puja on Friday.
Following the meeting, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said teams comprising scientists from Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) have been formed to visit puja pandals in the city. They will verify whether the colour and materials used in the idols are in accordance with the Supreme Court’s guidelines. If any violation is detected, necessary action will be taken, he added.
Besides, a BMC team, constituted for monitoring the immersion of idols, visited the spot for creation of temporary ponds. The decision on the spot will be taken after the team submits its report, Chaudhary said.
