Intense Cold Wave Hits Normal Life In Odisha; Phulbani Shivers At 4°C
Bhubaneswar: The intense cold wave disrupted normal life in Odisha on Monday with the night temperature falling below 10 degree Celsius at 10 places.
According to a morning bulletin by the India Meteorological Department, Phulbani at 4°C recorded the lowest while the night temperature also dipped below 10 degrees in Boudh (9), Daringbadi (6), Sonepur (9.4), Koraput (7), Balangir (8.8), Bhawanipatna (7.8), Keonjhar (9.3), Jharsuguda (5.8) and Angul (6.6).
Besides, the temperature remained at 15 degrees and below in Balasore (11.7), Chandbali (11.2), Paradip (13.8), Gopalpur (14.3), Puri (15), Sambalpur (10.8), Hirakud (10.6), Talcher (10.4), Titlagarh (10), Malkangiri (11) and Nayagarh (11.2).
This apart, the twin city of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar also witnessed a fall in the night temperature by one degree Celsius at 11 and 12.3, respectively.
The IMD said that as there is no significant synoptic system over Odisha with the drifting of the high-pressure area, the cold wave condition in the state will intensify further. The night temperature may fall by 1-2°C during the next 24 hours in the coastal districts and by 3-4°C over the districts of interior Odisha during next three days.
