Mumbai: Famous Indian sexologist Dr Mahinder Watsa breathed his last on December 28. The 96-year-old died of natural causes.
He was popular columnist and wrote for Mumbai Mirror where he addressed the column ‘Ask the Sexpert’.
The column was popular for educating people about sexual health and also for Watsa’s witty responses.
Watsa and his wife lived in the United Kingdom for a while in the 1950s.
He started writing as a columnist in the 1960s. He authored health columns for many womens’ magazines such as Femina, Flair and Trend.

Watsa was aware of the lack of sex education in India and in 1974, he worked as a consultant for the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI) where he proposed a sexual education programme for the country. The FPAI hence started India’s first sex education, counselling and therapy centre despite oppositions.
Watsa left his gynaecology practice in early 1980s and worked full-time in counselling and education.
