Pari Murder Case: Crime Branch SIT Appeals For LVA Test Of Minor Accused
Nayagarh: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Odisha Crime Branch on Wednesday sought the permission of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) to conduct LAV (layered voice analysis) test of the minor accused in the Pari murder case.
The SIT made the appeal to the Board after producing the accused in the alleged murder of the minor girl of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district. Prior to this, the JJB had rejected the appeal of the SIT for Narco test and brain mapping of the accused.
It may be recalled that the Special POCSO Court had on January 8 rejected the appeal of SIT for the Narco test as the accused refused to undergo the test. The POCSO court referred the case to JJB after taking note that the accused is a minor on the basis of his date of birth in the Matriculation certificate.

Acting on the direction of the court, the SIT on the same day had produced the minor accused in JJB and prayed for the Narco test. But, as the accused expressed his unwillingness in writing, the JJB rejected the Narco test.
On January 13, the SIT sought permission for brain mapping of the juvenile accused which was also rejected by the Board after he refused to undergo the test.
LVA technology is based on a proprietary set of vocal parameters through field and academic research to correlate with key human emotions and in various combinations to be able to identify deceptive intentions in real-life scenarios. These vocal parameters were identified from a large repository of audio files captured in different languages and numerous life situations, from police interrogations, through contact centres to controlled experiments.
