Married Woman’s Murder: Odisha Police Recreate Crime Scene In Nayagarh
Nayagarh: A day after the arrest of four persons for the murder of a married woman in Nayagarh district, police on Sunday reconstructed the crime scene with the accused at Suara Sahi village in Sarankul block.
Police said the victim, Sasmita Mahapatra, had married Akshaya Mahapatra four years ago. However, there was unrest in the family after Sasmita discovered her husband’s extra-marital affair.
Following this, Akshaya planned to kill his wife and hired two contract killers for Rs 20,000.
On the night of January 29, the two contract killers along with two aides barged into the victim’s house when she was alone. They strangulated Sasmita with a scraf and then hung her body in the room to make it look like suicide.
However, police found out that it was murder and arrested the woman’s husband, who confessed to the crime.
On the basis of his interrogation, police arrested the two contract killers and their aides on Saturday night. They also seized the contract meoney of Rs 20,000 from the house of one killer.
