Cop in Vigilance Net For Taking Bribe In Odisha’s Dhenkanal
Bhubaneswar: The IIC of Nihalprasad police station has been arrested by Vigilance officers for accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 in connection with a dowry case in Dhenkanal district on Friday.
As per sources in Vigilance, IIC Chittaranjan Behera demanded the money from Aintha Sethi, a resident of the same village for not filing a dowry torture case against himself, wife and son. Sethi’s daughter-in-law had filed a dowry harassment case in the police station.
On learning about the bribe demand, the victim informed Vigilance following which a trap was laid and Chittaranjan was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.
The personal driver of the IIC Prakash Mahalik and laundry worker Laxman Sethi have also been arrested in this connection.
