Disproportionate Assets: Vigilance Raids School Teacher’s Properties, Arrests Jr Engineer In Odisha
Cuttack: In two separate disproportionate assets cases, Vigilance officials conducted raid on the properties of a school teacher in Sonepur district and arrested a junior engineer in Gajapati district on Wednesday.
Following the allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Santosh Kumar Sahu, Assistant Teacher, Patharghat Upper Primary School under Birmaharajpur police station in Sonepur, Vigilance officials of Sambalpur division conducted search in his residential double-storey building along with two under-construction single-storey buildings and market complex at Baghmari village and another residential double-storey building at Kenjhariapali village.
Sahu was found in possession of assets worth Rs 2,15,02,311. Further investigation is on.
In the second case, the Vigilance found K Nageswar Senapati, Junior Engineer in Rayagada block of Gajapati district in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 1,88,96,583.
Senapati’s assets included residential double-storey building at Paralakhemundi, house at native village Kulada, fly ash brick manufacturing unit at Minigam village, a four-wheeler, two two-wheelers, deposits in different banks, gold and silver ornaments, Rs 60 lakh in cash and household articles.
As he could not account for the properties satisfactorily, Vigilance officials of Berhampur division arrested him and forwarded to the court.
