Homoeopathic Doctor Arrested In Spurious Liquor Case In Berhampur

Berhampur: Police have arrested a homoeopathic doctor and the main accused in a spurious liquor case in the city.

According to sources, Baidyanathpur police had busted a spurious liquor producing unit on January 7. But the main accused in the case, Harish Chandra Sahu alias Hari (42) of Chandraprabha Sahi in the city was absconding since then. Sahu was arrested on Saturday.

During interrogation, Sahu revealed to the police that he was procuring homoeopathic spirit for preparation of the spurious liquor from Dr K Gopi of Prem Nagar and Dr E Pradeep Kumar Patro of MTR Apartment City High School Road here.

During search of the godown of Dr Pradeep Patro at Khaspa Sahi under Badabazar police station, 252 bottles containing 112 litre of homeopathic spirit of different brands were seized.

The police forwarded Sahu and Dr Pradeep Patro to the court of SDJM, Berhampur on Sunday.  The complicity of other persons are also under verification, said Additional SP Berhampur.

Police have registered cases under various Sections of IPC and Odisha Excise Act.
