Fee Waiver Not Applicable To ICSE Schools In Odisha, Says Supreme Court
Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court said that the Odisha government notification directing all private schools to follow MoU arrived at between private schools agreeing on fee waiver due to COVID-19 pandemic in a graded manner, will not be applicable for schools affiliated to Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Board.
“As the Association of Odisha ICSE Schools is not part to the MoU and as per observations of the Orissa High Court made in the judgement on January 7, 2021, the directive of fee waiver is not applicable to the members of the association imparting ICSE courses,” the bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Dinesh Maheswari and Justice Krishna Murari said.
The MoU was arrived at between 14 private institutions and agreed on fee waiver in a graded fashion on September 10, 2020.
