Cuttack Private Hospitals Warned Against Harassing Patients

Cuttack: Private hospitals in Cuttack city will be taken to task for harassing patients and their kin.

Announcing this, Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central, Anil Kumar Samal said the administration will take stern action against private hospitals and nursing homes if they were found illegally shifting any patient from SCB Medical College and Hospital.

“If the administration gets conclusive evidence of illegal shifting, the private hospital concerned or the nursing home will be immediately sealed and its owner arrested,” the RDC said.

The RDC warning came after the administration on Monday sealed Annapurna Nursing Home in Mangalabag area following a complaint by the family members of Jharkhand-based family against the nursing home staff.

The family alleged that the nursing home was collecting money from them for treatment of their kin admitted to the ICU.

The family members alleged that they were not allowed to enter the ICU following which they reported the matter to Mangalabag police.

A team of police and district health officials went to the nursing home and found that the patient had died two days ago. The hospital staff were arrested and hospital sealed.
