COVID-19 Surge: 336 Patients Admitted To ICU In Odisha In Three Days

Bhubaneswar: While the daily COVID-19 caseload in Odisha continues to soar with over 6000 new cases for four consecutive days, the number of patients admitted to the ICU in the government and private COVID hospitals have gone up substantially.

Sources in the Health and Family Welfare Department said that while 412 patients were admitted to the ICU on April 20, the number has gone up to 748 with the admission of 336 more patients in just three days.

Among the 748 patients, 608 are admitted in the ICU in private COVID hospitals and 140 in the government COVID hospitals while 128 critical patients are under treatment with ventilator support.

The sources further said that 16 per cent of the ventilators are in use in the ICUs.

Apart from this, the state government has facilitated oxygen support to 20,347 COVID Care Centres (CCCs) where only 3 per cent patients (564) are undergoing treatment.

Also, out of 8782 general beds, 2140 patients (24%) patients are undergoing treatment.
