Commissionerate Police Launch Organized Crime And Property Offences Cell In Odisha Capital
Bhubaneswar: As part of a special drive, the Commissionearte Police launched an Organised Crime and Property Offences Cell in the state capital on Thursday.
Announcing the launch, Commissioner of Police Soumendra Priyadarshi informed that a property offence prevention and detection (POPD) team was formed at the police station level in the city recently.
The efficient performance of the PODP team has led to a drastic decline in crimes related to property offence in Bhubaneswar Urban Police District, Priyadarshi said, adding that several stolen articles were recovered and returned to the rightful owners.
To further streamline the process, the city police have introduced two software applications — Kundali and Sandhan — to access details of property offenders and stolen articles, he said.
“If you search the name of the offender on the Kundali app, you will get the details of the cases he or she has been involved in,” the CP said.
“To get the details of their stolen mobile phones, people can go to the Sandhan app and mention the IMIE (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number of their phone. They will then get to know the time and place from where the phones were stolen,” he added.
He stated that the reason for the use and integration of these two new apps is to minimize the time of investigation.
However, police will use these two new apps at the internal level and subsequently open them to the city denizens.
