Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has sought revision of vaccine allocation ratio for state and private hospitals on Friday.
The state is seeking vaccine allocation in the ratio of 95:05 to state-and private hospitals.
The state has urged the Centre to divert 17.19 lakh doses of vaccines allocated for private hospitals, to the state quota. The demand from the private hospitals is 2.23 lakh doses against the allocation of 19.42 lakh doses, the state mentioned in its letter to Union Health Secretary.
The Additional Chief Secretary (Health) PK Mohapatra stated in the letter that presence of private hospitals is very low and limited to only about 5% of the total health care sector in the state.
As per the existing guidelines of the Centre, the vaccine allocation ratio is 75:25. Odisha will lose out on its proportionate share of 25% vaccines to the private sector.
“We tried to collaborate with all private hospitals in all districts, municipal corporations to aggregate their demands for vaccine procurement for July 2021. But the response for procurement of vaccines from the private hospitals is very less,” Mohapatra’s letter further read.
