Puri: The work on a construction of four doors of Srimandir for silver clading is progressing in full speed.

Woodwork for the four Dwaras – Jaya Bijaya Dwar, Beherana Dwar, Kalahata Dwar and Bhoga Mandapa Paschim Dwar is nearing completion, the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Krishan Kumar stated in a tweet.

On the other hand, work for construction of Sata Paahacha Dwar and  Adi Nrusingha Temple, Maa Bimala Temple and Maa Mahalaxmi Temple are set to begin soon.

Krishan Kumar reviewed the progress work on Saturday.

Being carved out of Burma teak wood, the doors will be clad in over 2,500 kg silver sheets having traditional Pattachitra patterns.

The silver was donated by a Mumbai-based devotee.

After a recent meeting, two committees, one technical and another of senior Sevaks, have been constituted for supervision of the work.

Meanwhile, heritage activist and independent researcher Prateek Patnaik has appealed to the SJTA chief to design the doors in traditional Odia style to preserve the traditional style.
