Koraput: Jeypore Sadar Police on Thursday seized a huge quantity of ganja and arrested six persons, including a home guard.
The arrested home guard, whose identity is yet to be revealed, belongs to Kolab area near Jeypore in Koraput district.
According to sources, police conducted raids on basis of a tip-off and intercepted two trucks at different places. While One-tonne ganja was seized from a truck, contraband weighing five quintal and 89 kg was found stacked in another 10-wheeler. The market price of the seized ganja has been estimated to be around Rs 1.5 crore.
“One of the trucks was laden with coal. Besides, mobile phones, ATM cards, and other papers were seized from the accused persons,” informed Jypore SDPO Arup Abhishek Behera.
The home guard and five other persons were smuggling the ganja to other states, he added.
