Marginal Rise In Daily COVID Caseload In Odisha; High Infection Rate In 0-18 Age Group

Bhubaneswar: A day after the state government decided to withdraw weekend shutdown and revise night curfew, Odisha on Wednesday saw a marginal rise in daily caseload with 719 persons, including 125 children below 18 years of age, testing positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

The state had reported 638 new cases the previous day.

With the fresh infections being detected from 64656 samples, the teste positivity rate for the day stood at 1.11 per cent. The infection rate among children and adolescents was 17 per cent for the second consecutive day.

According to the I & PR department, 422 are from quarantine and 297 local contacts cases. Khurda district reported the highest 259 new infections, followed by Cuttack (89) and Balasore (43). Gajapati and Nuapada saw nil cases.
