‘No Man’s Land’, Section 144: Tight Security For Monsoon Session Of Odisha Assembly; 12 Bills Listed

Bhubaneswar: The Monsoon session of the Odisha Assembly will commence at 11 am on Tuesday.

According to sources, the BJP will move adjournment motion notice over drought situation. Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment minister will reply in the House.

A total of 12 bills, including the Odisha University of Technology and Research Bill, 2021, Odisha University of Health Science Bill 2021, Odisha Housing Board (Amendment) Bill, are likely to be tabled and passed during this session.

Meanwhile, Section 144 has been clamped around the Assembly and dharna sites to prevent any kind of congregation. The area between Jayadev Bhawan and the Reserve Bank of India has been declared ‘no man’s land’. Barring RBI officials, Secretariate staff and emergency services, there will restrictions on the movement of other vehicles.

Commissioner of Police Soumendra Priyadarsi said that 35 platoons of police force with Quick Action Team will be deployed in and around the Assembly.
