In a bizarre and cruel act, a woman was allegedly beaten up severely by her in-laws after she reportedly turned down her husband’s demand to engage in sexual activity over video calls.
The 30-year-old woman, resident of Ahmedabad, has lodged a police complaint against her Canada-based husband and in-laws.
In her complaint, the woman stated that soon after she tied the knot with the accused on August 21, 2020, he started returning home late in a drunken state and subjected her to harassment.
On August 25 last year, the complainant’s husband flew to Canada without informing her, according to a report published by The Times of India.
Thereafter, the man started sending vulgar messages from Canada and asked her to sex-chat with him. On refusal, the woman was verbally abused, she claimed.
“He also made obscene demands telling me to remove clothes in front of the phone camera. As I refused, he would provoke my in-laws who used to beat me,” the report quoted the complainant as saying.
The woman also alleged that her in-laws snatched the mobile phone to prevent her from talking to her husband and even demanded cash and gold for not getting enough dowry.
The woman claimed she had asked her husband to take her abroad. He refused and informed her that he wanted to dissolve the marriage.
She left her in-laws’ place and tried to save the marriage by reaching a compromise but in vain. Finally, she went to the police seeking justice.
